Virtual Training - Registration Required

Time: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. EST

Presenter:  Sarah Nelson, PhD,  Director of Research - Division of Addiction, Cambridge Health Alliance, Harvard Medical School

Training Description:  This session will provide an overview of the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in gambling settings, particularly as it relates to responsible gambling interventions and tools. We will review what we mean by AI, how online gambling companies use AI to identify player risk, how AI might be incorporated into gambling treatment, and the important limitations of these systems. The session will conclude with ideas about how we might test and evaluate AI systems for safety, accuracy, and potential benefit.

Training Objectives:

1. Provide a working definition of artificial intelligence and understand the different types of AI (e.g., machine learning, natural language processing, generative vs. predictive AI);

2. Identify the ways AI is being used and might be used within online gambling platforms and clinical interventions, and how that might affect gamers in both positive and negative ways;

3. Be able to identify at least three limitations of AI systems and know what questions to ask when learning about a new AI system or feature.
