Description
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an evidence-based training program with proven ability to teach individuals how to recognize and respond to the warning signs of mental illness and substance use disorders.
Because older adults have high rates of late-onset mental health challenges, like anxiety and depression, and low rates of identification and treatment, Mental Health First Aid for Older Adults is designed for anyone working with or supporting older adults. Learn how to assist and support older adults who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge by getting certified in MHFA.
This course uses scenarios and activities to demonstrate how to offer initial help in a mental health challenge or crisis and connect older adults to the appropriate professional, peer, social and self-help care. Mental Health First Aid increases the understanding that mental illnesses are real, common and treatable.
Whether you need to assist today or years from now, this certification gives you the confidence you need to have the conversations that will allow older adults to live as comfortably and independently as possible.
