Supporting Transition Resilience of Newcomer Groups (STRONG) Booster Session
Tuesday, November 18, 2025
9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Supporting Transition Resilience of Newcomer Groups (STRONG) is an evidence-informed, school-based intervention for immigrant and refugee youth (K-12th grades). STRONG aims to build resilience and address psychological distress associated with the newcomer experience from a culturally contextualized lens. STRONG is delivered by school mental health clinicians and is comprised of 10 group sessions, one individual student session, and teacher and parent educator sessions. Elementary and Secondary versions are available.
This booster session will include an opportunity to discuss a variety of topics such as: the impact of national and local crises on students, schools, and the provision of mental health services; barriers to and strategies for the implementation of STRONG; and model-specific conversations about STRONG clinical skills and concepts.
This booster will be virtual and breaks will be built in. If the session occurs during your typical lunch time, know there will not be a standard break. Participants can feel free to eat during their typical lunch time as well as throughout, while participating in the training. Remaining on camera is still preferred.
This program has been approved for 4 Continuing Education Credit Hours by the National Association of Social Workers, CT and meets the continuing education criteria for CT Social Work Licensure renewal.
