A New Emerging Adult Gambling Screen: Purpose, Development, and Validation (August 26, 2025 | 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.) - Research has shown that emerging adults (18-24) may experience gambling risk and harms different than other populations. Through continued research, a new emerging adult gambling screen has been developed specifically relevant to the experiences of this population to better screen for those who may need further assessment and possible treatment. Gambling & Suicide: The Who, The Why, and What to Do (September 12, 2025 | 10 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. EST) - Approximately 46,000 Americans died by suicide in 2020, which is equivalent to one person every 11 minutes. Unfortunately, individuals with gambling problems are at an increased risk for suicide ideation, suicidal attempts, and completion. About a third of callers to gambling helplines reported suicidal ideation within the past year, and approximately 11% of callers reported recent suicidal ideation. The purpose of this training is to examine suicide, its risk factors, and clinical practice within the context of individuals with gambling disorder. Beyond the Bet: A Theatrical Exploration of the Chances We Take in Life (October 1, 2025 | 12:00 p.m. | In-person at DMHAS in Hartford) - Artreach, Inc. uses creativity to promote social change, reduce stigma, and enhance community well-being. In “Beyond the Bet,” Katrina delves into gambling through a cultural lens, uncovering its deeper connections to her father’s illness. Connecticut Council on Problem Gambling's Clinical Training Series (October 7, 2025 - March 3, 2026) - This dynamic training opportunity is aimed at equipping behavioral health professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to address gambling-related issues. Participants will learn how to identify and support clients with Gambling Disorder or those impacted by gambling-related harm. The program also prepares participants for the international certification exam through the International Problem Gambling and Gaming Certification Organization. The Clinical Training Series is virtual, no cost, and approved for 32 CEUS with CCB and IPGGC. Click here to register for one or more trainings.
