Course Description
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an evidence-based training program with proven ability to teach individuals how to recognize and respond to the warning signs of mental illness and substance use disorders.
This course uses scenarios and activities to demonstrate how to offer initial help in a mental health challenge or crisis and connect people to the appropriate professional, peer, social and self-help care. The program also allows participants to grow their knowledge of the signs, symptoms and risk factors of mental illnesses and substance use disorder, and increase their confidence and likelihood to help an individual in distress. Mental Health First Aid increases the understanding that mental illnesses are real, common and treatable.
